SUMMARY:EMN Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Flavoromics- a new frontier in food and horticultural science \nSpeakers: Dr. Farhana R Pinu (Science Group Leader of the Biological Chemistry and Bioactives group at the New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research\, NZ) \nThis presentation will discuss how flavoromics\, a recently introduced branch of metabolomics\, is a non-targeted and data driven approach aims to establish relationships among the chemical composition of foods and their sensory properties. Therefore\, the application of flavoromics directly contributes to understanding consumer perception and preference better. There are a multitude of benefits from the application of flavoromics in food and agricultural science including knowledge development and tools to assist food scientists and industries to develop quality products based on desirable sensory characteristics. \nFarhana is a Science Group Leader of Biological Chemistry and Bioactives group\, New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research Ltd (PFR) where she oversees four different teams that specialise in metabolomics\, analytical and natural products chemistry. After completing her PhD from the University of Auckland\, New Zealand\, she joined PFR to work on a programme to develop fermentation technologies to produce lower alcohol wines using data driven approaches. \nClick here to learn more about this latest webinar by Dr. Farhana R Pinu \nPlease register for\, “Flavoromics- a new frontier in food and horticultural science\,” to be held on May 14 at 21:00 UTC\, 23:00 CET\, 9:00 NZST at: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_i9RfBdoWSkWRz3lPa-4o5g \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the webinar.
