SUMMARY:São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) on FoodOmics
DESCRIPTION:The São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) on FoodOmics (https://espca.fea.unicamp.br/) will be held on September 13-26\, 2026\, at the School of Food Engineering of the State University of Campinas (FEA-UNICAMP) in São Paulo state\, Brazil. \nAdvances in omics sciences in areas related to food and nutrition have made it increasingly possible to understand the complexity at each layer of biological systems and at each stage of food systems\, from cultivation to consumption – hence the term FoodOmics\, which was established to designate the emerging interdisciplinary field that uses omics technologies to holistically understand food and nutrition\, focusing on production\, safety\, and\, above all\, the benefits associated with food consumption. Thus\, SPSAS on FoodOmics aims to promote discussion and deepen scientific and technological knowledge\, advancing understanding of the potential of omics technologies in food science\, food engineering\, food technology\, and nutrition. \nThe ten-day School’s schedule combines theoretical and practical activities\, including keynote lectures\, poster sessions\, advanced hands-on workshops\, and discussion panels\, all focused on foodomics and its applications. The program includes interactive sessions where participants present their research\, technical visits to UNICAMP laboratories\, and cultural activities. \nThe discussions at the School will benefit greatly from the participation of internationally renowned researchers as keynote speakers\, such as Prof. Dr. Alejandro Cifuentes (Instituto de Investigación en Ciencias de la Alimentación – Spain)\, author of the term FoodOmics; Prof. Dr. Jianguo Xia (McGill University – Canada)\, who developed the Metaboanalyst Platform (https://www.metaboanalyst.ca/); Prof. Dr. Mónica Cala Molina (Universidad de Los Andes – Colombia)\, head of the Latin-American Society of Metabolic Profile; Prof. Dr. Hector Henrique Ferreira Koolen (Amazonas State University – Brazil)\, coordinator for the Legal Amazon Metabolomics Network. \nSPSAS on FoodOmics expects to receive 100 students\, including undergraduate and graduate students\, and early-career researchers (post-doctorates). The selection will be carried out by the Scientific Committee and will prioritize the formation of a diverse audience in terms of race\, gender\, nationality\, and place of origin\, estimating that 25 participants will be Brazilians located in the state of São Paulo\, 25 will be Brazilians located in other Brazilian states\, and 50 will be foreigners. Participants who do not reside in Campinas will have the costs of round-trip (air or ground travel)\, meals\, accommodation\, travel insurance (only for foreign participants)\, and transportation between designated locations during the school’s activities fully covered by SPSAS on FoodOmics\, with funding from The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

SUMMARY:Metabomeeting 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Metabomeeting is a conference organised by the MPF every couple of years since 2003\, usually within the UK but sometimes collaborating with another metabolomics body overseas\, such as in 2020 when\, in conjunction with the Réseau Français de Métabolomique et Fluxomique\, the European RFMF Metabomeeting was held in Toulouse\, France\, with the motto “good food\, good science.” \nPlenary and keynote speakers are invited from the most prodigious researchers in the field and from the whole breadth of metabolomics applications. The MPF places a big emphasis on encouraging and showcasing early career researchers and so many ECRs are given opportunities to speak and the poster session is a popular part of the Metabomeeting\, with prizes on offer. The real highlight is the chance to network with metabolomics professionals and students at all stages of the career journey and let our hair down at the conference dinner\, which usually involves great food and great music. \nJoin us for Metabomeeting 2025 in London\, at the inspiring venue of the British Library! \nWebsite:https://www.metabolicprofilingforum.org.uk/metabomeeting-2025

SUMMARY:EMN Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Coming up December 15 at 14:00 UTC\, 9:00 EDT\, 15:00 CET\, 8:00 CST \nBridging Research and Industry with Precision Lipidomics \nSpeaker: Marcos Y. Yoshinaga  (Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul\, Founder of PinguisLab) \nIn this webinar\, Marcos will share personal experiences\, lessons learned\, and strategies for turning complex lipidomics data into actionable insights that drive both scientific discovery and real-world innovation. For over two decades\, Marcos has worked hands-on with mass spectrometry data\, analyzing lipids across diverse biological samples. Today\, Marcos consults for academic teams and mentor students while fostering partnerships with industry clients in food\, cosmetics\, and biotech. \nDr. Marcos Yukio Yoshinaga is a scientist passionate about lipid analysis by mass spectrometry and its power to drive discovery research. Mass spectrometry remains the most comprehensive tool for studying lipids\, yet—unlike proteins or DNA—lipids have no universal code. This makes lipid biomarker discovery uniquely challenging for computational and software-driven approaches. \nClick here to learn more about this latest webinar by Marcos Y. Yoshinaga. \nPlease register for\, “Bridging Research and Industry with Precision Lipidomics\,” to be held on December 15 at 14:00 UTC\, 9:00 EDT\, 15:00 CET\, 8:00 CST at: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/xsQ3NZQcSV6CzaefM5tGtg \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the webinar. \nBrought to you by the EMN of the Metabolomics Society.

SUMMARY:Frontiers in Metabolomics & Metabolomic Imaging in Medicine: Challenges & Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:This inaugural Metabolomics and Metabolomic Imaging (MMI) workshop is designed for scientists\, clinicians\, and trainees from academia\, healthcare\, and industry\, who seek to learn and discuss the frontiers of metabolomics in medicine. The central focus of this workshop is medical metabolomics and metabolomic imaging\, a burgeoning field with enormous potential for medical applications\, particularly in the context of malignant and neurodegenerative diseases which can present heterogenous systematic metabolic alterations that can only be collectively evaluated by metabolomics. Currently\, metabolomics studies are predominantly conducted by NMR and mass spectrometry\, and complemented by methodologies such as PET\, hyperpolarized MR\, and other methodologies. By uniting leaders from various methodological domains of metabolomics\, along with pioneers in data science\, artificial intelligence\, and machine learning\, we aim to create and foster an environment conducive to open discussion and collaboration. Our goal is to propel the development of medical metabolomics and metabolomic imaging for clinical implementation. \nEducational Objectives \nParticipants will \n\nbe able to identify technologies used in metabolomics and metabolomic imaging\nunderstand the challenges and potential of metabolomics and metabolomic imaging for malignant and neurodegenerative disease studies\nbecome familiar with advanced metabolomic data analysis using AI and machine learning\nexpand their collaborative networks with metabolomic experts from multiple domains\n\nFor more workshop information\, click here.\nView the Promotional Flyer.

SUMMARY:Hands-on Data Analysis for Metabolic Profiling Course
DESCRIPTION:We offer a unique course in metabolomics data analysis\, blending lectures and practical computational experience. Small attendee numbers ensure that there is maximum opportunity to interact with experienced instructors. On completion of the course\, attendees will understand the aims of untargeted metabolomics and the characteristics of metabolomic data from NMR and LC-MS and have a good understanding of pre-processing and statistical modelling of the data. A key benefit is training in the use of open source software which attendees can use immediately on their own data. \nClick here for more details.
