Dara Daygon
The University of Queensland, Australia

Dara received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the Genetics and Molecular Biology Division of the University of the Philippines. She was awarded with the UQ International Scholarship and recently completed her Doctorate degree under the supervision of Prof. Melissa Fitzgerald at The University of Queensland. Prior to this, she was employed as Assistant Scientist for Molecular biology at the International Rice Research Institute, Philippines.

Her involvement in metabolomics started during her PhD where she worked on determining biomarkers and genetic markers for rice aroma and flavour through metabolomic profiling and genome-wide association mapping (GWAS). Her current research includes the application of metabolomics in quality evaluation of food and as selection tools for crop improvement. She also applies metabolomics in the analysis of the metabolic responses of plants to abiotic stresses and farm management practices. Being exposed to the fields of metabolomics, genomics and molecular biology, her goal is to integrate multi-‘omic platforms in understanding complex traits in plants.
